Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflection – A Drawbridge in Edam

Theme for The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge this week is reflection.

This is a typical drawbridge in the Netherlands. They are mostly used across canals and narrow bodies of water that have both land and water traffic. They are mechanically simple enough to be operated by hand (rather strong hands, that is!). This one is a more modern one, made from steel instead of wood and was taken in the town of Edam (yes, where Edam cheese comes from). I love the straight lines of the trusses against the soft dusk sky and how the reflections maintains the crisp edges of the bridge.

    1. Thanks! We rarely get a cloudless sky like this, but when it happens, we do get beautiful colours filling up the sky (must be all the cow fart in the atmosphere :p ).
